AUGUSTUS
Deep in the Gulf Country of northwest Queensland is Augustus Station – prime grazing territory since 1881.
Augustus beef comes from our grain-finished cattle and are specifically selected for their grain feeding performance to produce a consistent texture and flavour. These cattle are raised on natural pastures for the majority of their lives before moving to a customised grain ration. It makes for optimum eating quality and year-round consistency.
The history of Augustus Station is one intertwined with the history of the beef and cattle industry in Queensland.
When Oscar de Satage (pictured) resigned as a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1877, he cast his eyes towards the pastoral lease known as Augustus Downs in Queensland’s north-west. He acquired the property in 1881. The Augustus landscape is pristine with minimal interference from human activity. The area is synonymous with raising high-quality cattle and great beef.
The property has changed hands only a few times between then and now, and Stanbroke is proud to be a part of its history
